Looking at Oscar de la Renta’s fall 2013 runway you could guess that John Galliano was in the house. Oscar still ruled though with his use of colour, the amazing detail and overall femininity. Some pieces in the collection did seem more like vintage ODLR. The 80-year-old will mark his 50th year of designing clothes in New York in 2013. Nothing last season came close to the wow factor of the two grand silk faille ball gowns in shocking pink and mulberry with intricate gold bullion embroidery that closed the show.
Rubin Singer is the previously relatively unknown designer behind Beyoncé’s fierce costume she wore to perform at the Super Bowl halftime entertainment which is viewed by an estimated 100 million people across the United States. Singer who was also responsible for creating the costumes for the Destiny’s Child stars and the 120 backing dancers involved in the production honed his design skills at Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass before launching his own label in 2007. Beyoncé’s lace, iguana and python skin bodysuit took 14 people to help create and five fittings to polish to perfection. The Super Bowl 15 minutes of fame was one bootylicious career boost for Rubin Singer.

Hedi Slimane leaked a lookbook for his pre-fall 2013 Saint Laurent collection at Style.com and it’s full of dark and sexy rock ‘n’ roll vibes. The stylized black and white photos feature the singer/model Sky Ferriera rocking the collection with heavy cat eyes and sex kitten pouts. The collection is filled with shiny studded leather, sheer lace and super slim pants all in black with some flashes of bare skin amping up the sex appeal.
